With the founding of Grafix, 25 years ago, we started our story, in which we wanted to create a complete system for providing production services in the field of commercial graphics, based on knowledge, professional organization and market orientation. It is a story made up of many “for the first time” chapters that were both our business challenge and the happiness of creating.

We have been working since the student days, “impressing” clients with conceptual designs, made on then rarely used computers. The pioneering but extensive business of branding city buses in Belgrade has led us to set up our own company – Grafix.

96 | 99 … TO KNOW AND BE ABLE, FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH US

The mid-1990s saw a period of high inflation, and the commercial graphics market grew. This was the period when companies in our country started to accept trends from abroad, and more and more of them wanted to communicate the product at the point of sale with large photographs, promotional and presentation means of commercial graphics. We tracked them down and developed production and “know how” at Grafix.

One of the more significant, landmark jobs at the time was the branding of the Sport Cafe in Belgrade with the largest graphics in the interior at that time.
The wall with Serbian athletes has occupied a space of then incredible 12 × 4 m (press lasted 10 days for a full 16 hours a day).

Second technology
3M Schotchprint

They selected us and trained us the best, then unbeatable american 3M. At that time, the best American technology was providing products of excellent quality, hitherto unseen in our market.
We followed trends and technologies, and brought them to Serbia soon after their appearance.
Our story thus became unique.

In October 1998, for the first time, we produced full color autographics (should we mention that we designed this slogan?) – it was Peugeot Partner for Sector watches.

For the first time, we made full-color commercials with photos. For the first time, banner ads could be photographs and not be limited to text in one or two colors … Thus, our story gained institutional significance.

THE NEW MILLENNIUM, FROM „LARGE“ TO „WIDE“

The beginning of the new millennium brings acceleration and growth in ambition in size and speed of production. The American technology that inherits 3M is Vutek. New technological advances catapult us into the sphere of industrial production. The production headquarters were moved to the BIGZ building, at that time the only industrial facility for the printing industry.

We were the first to produce MEGA graphics, across entire buildings, where the Slavija Hotel in Belgrade proved to be the right medium, that is, a suitable object for mesh of 600m2.

There is an expansion of the use of commercial graphics “in door” in retail spaces, as well as “out door” on vehicles, billboards … Since we are licensed makers of 3M commercial graphics from the very beginning, we get jobs for entire fleets of cars from companies like Pepsi, Knjaz Miloš, Coca Cola… At that time, as many as 9 out of 10 vehicles you saw on the street came out of Grafix.


In 2003, Grafix marked its 10th anniversary with large format graphics at the Yugoslav Drama Theater.
The very next year 2004, we completed the Vutek Printing Division with 7 large format printing machines.

05 | 08 … NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND NEW BUILDING

And then in 2005 we conquer UV technology. Starts printed directly on the board materials. In doing so, we expanded our portfolio of services and products, while also creating products that until then were technologically impossible to make.

In 2008, we begin work on the project of our office building – a specialized factory for the production of commercial graphics.

09 | 12 … EXIT THE WORLD CRISIS AND MIGRATION

In 2009, we broke another record: in 6 days we printed and refined 12,000m2 of banners for the “Zavala” Montenegro project. The dramaturgical moment exists in every story, so he didn’t miss ours. The global crisis has spilled over into our country too, of course, with its specifics, including that it will take longer than at the place of origin.

However, we are already seeing growth again in 2012. That year, we moved into our office building of over 5,000 m2, a kind of idea development center.

NEW AGE AND NEW REQUIREMENTS

In the new age, technological development and customer expectations were no longer a major challenge. We celebrated our 20th anniversary with the “Large Format People” project and the slogans “20 Years – Only Graphics Without Politics”.

New equipment belonged to the new factory. From 2014 to 2017, we have completely rebuilt all printing machines, printers and print finishing machines. Our new printing capacity is 471 m2 / h, commensurate with 11,000 m2/day, 250,000 m2/month …, far more than the market demands and enough for every “peak”.

In addition, both high resolution and large format are no longer basic requirements. The resolution has reached a photographic level. Top organization has become a new, additional challenge. That is why we have introduced EN ISO 9001, OHSAS 180001, Fogra PSD standards.

(UN)LOYAL COMPETITION.
OR HOW TO STAY CONSISTENT
On the sidelines of our story, “competition” emerged, which unfortunately brought about a drastic decline in quality. Both in billboard printing and in other segments of commercial graphics. By selling the „same quality for a lower price“, they deliver much worse quality. This trend is maintained and lower prices have become imperative in the selection of suppliers. Honor the exceptions, but price is the dominant criterion. For this reason, now we are all witnessing actually “anti-advertising” on vans, billboards or all other types of commercial graphics. Through its many years of work, Grafix has positioned itself as someone who offers uncompromising quality – our clients know this and that is why they have been working with us for many years to our mutual satisfaction.

COMPREHENSIVE AND ORDERLY SYSTEM
Today we are regulated. We have systems, standards and procedures in place. Organization. Our showroom is where we work with clients to solve problems with the speed of ready-made solutions. Our sales room, conducts clients with fast and easy communication, with daily control of inbound and outbound jobs. Our warehouses are tidy and regularly stocked with the necessary supplies. Our logistics are our support in mechanization and transportation. Our production is planned and controlled. Our story is complete today.

The story of Grafix is at the same time the story of commercial graphics in this region. A story full of people, products, services, clients, work, success… the story we’ve been writing
for 25 years seems like it’s just beginning.
