A case study on the production of illuminated signage and large-format logos using industrial 3D printing.

Osnovne informacije
Location: Belgrade
Client: Hard Rock Cafe
Service: 3D Printing of Signage Letters and Logos
Format: Large format (interior and exterior signs and logos)
Purpose: Signature Signage – Space Branding and Illuminated Signage
About the project
To support the venue’s branding, illuminated signage elements were produced for Hard Rock Cafe Belgrade.
The project included the production of:
- An illuminated interior logo
- An exterior illuminated sign above the entrance
- A projecting illuminated logo sign
- Large-format decorative elements
The project aimed to:
- Preserve the brand’s distinctive identity
- Achieve a high level of visual quality
- Ensure a durable and structurally stable construction

Challenge
The Hard Rock Cafe logo has a distinctive shape that requires:
- Precise reproduction of complex curves within a structurally intricate logo
- Consistency across all branding elements
- A high standard of finishing and attention to detail
Additional challenges included:
- Coordinating interior and exterior signage to achieve a consistent visual identity
- Creating an appealing lighting effect that could be easily adjusted
- Ensuring long-term durability in everyday use
Conventional production methods for elements of this type would require:
- Multiple production stages, different technologies and materials, and precise manual fabrication
- More complex assembly and joining of individual components
- Longer production and delivery times
Solutions
For this project, industrial 3D printing of signage letters using high-quality, weather-resistant materials was employed.
This approach enabled:
✔ High-precision production of complex shapes
✔ A stable and uniform structure for letters and shapes
✔ Reduced number of joints by producing components as single pieces
✔ Easier quality control at every stage of production
The letter structure was designed as a combination of:
- 3D-printed PETG sidewalls
- Front panels made of translucent acrylic (Perspex/Plexiglas)
- PVC (Forex) backing panels
- High-quality illumination using LED modules with optical lenses

Technical Specifications
- Technology: Industrial 3D printing
- Sidewall material: PETG
- Front panel: Acrylic (Perspex)
- Backing panel: PVC (Forex)
- Type: Illuminated logo and signage
- Location: Belgrade
Results
The final result is an illuminated logo that:
✔ Preserves the brand’s authentic identity
✔ Offers a high level of manufacturing precision
✔ Ensures uniform illumination
✔ Maintains its visual quality over time
The combination of 3D printing and conventional materials delivered an outstanding visual effect.
